Hawkes Bay and Queenstown MTB Clubs...

Proving the Rotorua Singlespeed Society is as much a state of mind as a state of geography, Vicki Butterworth from the Hawkes Bay MTB Cluband John McCartney from the Queenstown MTB Clubare the two RSSS members who went to Durango in 2009 and scored SSWC10NZ for Rotorua and New Zealand.
Hawke's Bay is about 2-3 hours southeast of Rotorua and is one of New Zealand's fruit bowls and main wine producing regions. Napier is a relaxed seaside town with a world famous reputation for it's Art Deco architecture.
Queenstown is another tourism centre with some of the country's main ski fields surrounding this small town in the heart of Central Otago in the South Island. The landscape is dramatic and majestic and there are also some great vineyards near town.
Come to Rotorua, whip across to Hawkes Bay and then head down to Queenstown. You can fly out of Rotorua. You'll experience the full range of MTB in NZ in these 3 locations.

• Queenstown (home to J-Mac) is a genuine 4 season lake and alpine resort.
MTB is a huge all year round sport and their are 6 bikes shops and 4 guiding companies co-existing in a town with a permanent population of just 10 thousand.
The QMTBC are busy trail developers backed by the Wakatipu Trails Trust
, a pioneering alliance that is working with land owners and administrators to build a world-class trail network.
The QMTBC manage 4 bikes in the area - Jardine (beginner's XC), Wynyard Freestyle (DH, Advanced Freeride), Gorge Road Jump Park (beginner to advanced) and 7 Mile MTB Park (XC/Freeride). They're all interlinked by 100s of kilometres of off-road trails with several DH areas (chairlift and shuttle access) and pristine singletrack.
Queenstown is also close to other Central Otago riding hotspots - Wanaka, Alexandra and Naseby. All are good for singlespeeding...
